During 1986, the state of Georgia leased loco number 750, a sparkling, high-wheeled 4-6-0 Pacific type from the Atlanta Chapter of the Railroad Historical Society.

This loco was originally built for the Florida East Coast Railroad and eventually sold to the Savannah and Atlanta railroad where it remained in service until retired. The Atlanta chapter of the NRHS obtained it in the 60's and recently refurbished it for these runs by the state of Georgia.

In addition, we've spiced up a few scenes with a beautifully restored E-8 painted in the colors of the New Georgia Railroad. The 50's train makes its way around an 18 mile loop 4 times a day each day it runs. Speeds up to 60 MPH are attained.
Just like in the 50's, there are few signs of a "train for tourists" once the train is under way.
