Rails to Steel City

Shot on video in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area in the late 1980s, the viewer will see five major railroads serving the freight needs of this region. The PAT commuter rail system is also featured, with it's 'push-pull' service utilizing F-7 diesels. This service was discontinued in 1989.
Many of the exciting running shots of the freight operations are from the Beaver Falls area. This rural area provides a rich setting for the heavily trafficked freight lines operating in the Allegheny Mountains. The rolling hills surrounding Pittsburgh provide outstanding views overlooking the city and it's railroad operations.
