Climb aboard for a steam-action return to the 1970's and early 1980's when steam excursion trains thundered and whistled over the Southern Railway.
Through the Super-8 color and magnetic sound-on-film photography of Terry Foshee, Green Frog follows the first generation steam program under president W. Graham Claytor, when numbers 4501, 610, 2839, and 765 offered a great nostalgic and exciting period for riders and bystanders alike.

Then, as the second generation of the steam program dawned under Graham Claytor's brother, Robert Claytor, President of the new Norfolk Southern, we'll follow this exciting period with number 611. Relive the sights and sounds of that grand era!

This all color program was transferred on a state-of-the-art Rank-Cintel Film Telecine, equipped with a liquid gate for outstanding color and sharp film resolution! The original sound-on-film audio adds to the excitement of this spectacular, fast paced program!
The Southern did not have the only steam program in the United States, and we bring you a few scenes of Union Pacific 4-8-4 number 844, during the years it was numbered 8444.

**NOTE: DVD version contains 14 minutes of extremely interesting discussion and flash-backs with engineer Bill Purdie who was the Southern engineer on all these locomotives...listen to the great stories he tells of the trials and tribulations as well as the enjoyment of being responsible for the maintenance and day to day operations of the Southern steam program!
