Union Pacific and Canadian National at West Chicago, IL
In this episode, we'll visit a famous railroad junction in West Chicago, Illinois. This junction is where Union Pacific's former Chicago & North Western Geneva Sub crosses Canadian National's former Elgin, Joliet, and Eastern's Leithton Subdivision. CSX Garrett Sub Wooden Bridge Farewell
All over the country, rail-fans make use of the lofty vantage points where a road passes over the railroad track. In the case of extreme northeast Indiana, one of the most notable overpasses existed at the rural country road 75 overpass just west of the Indiana/Ohio state line and Hicksville, Ohio. At this point, the super busy CSX Garrett Subdivision enters a period of grade separation as the line passes through Hicksville.
This unique location has been a popular rail-fan spot for years, but in early 2014, the bridge was slated for removal. The grade separation can clearly be seen. On March 1st, 2014, with the bridge's demolition imminent, we made our final visit to this incredible location before shots like these would be gone forever.
Fortunately, CSX obliged by sending several trains past a small group of rail-fans present to commemorate the last Saturday of the bridge's existence. 14:37 Mins.

Kendalville is located about 40 miles east of the large classification yard in Elkhart, and is about 90 miles west of Toledo. There are several nice locations to view trains in this area.
