In this epic video you will see diverse railroad operations in this picturesque area of Pennsylvania. Everything from big steam, little steam, electric and diesel Amtrak trains, short line and NS mainline freights. This program was shot in September/October of 2019.
See N&W 611 and N&W 475 powering Strasburg tourist trains followed by 611 and 475 (475 was renumbered to 382) operating on a photo charter a week later. Fabulous runbys in the scenic Amish countryside.
Witness Amtrak electric and diesel operations on the Amtrak Harrisburg Line in areas around Lancaster, PA. We also see Strasburg #90 doing some runarounds at Leaman Place alongside the Amtrak line.
Next we will witness heavy duty Norfolk Southern action on their Harrisburg Line west of Reading. We will spend a busy morning/early afternoon at Sinking Spring getting numerous freights along with the East Penn Railway turn to Reading with its colorful paint scheme. We finish with action the next day at Robesonia, a scenic crossing east of Richland, Richland proper, and Lebanon.
The Pennsylvania Dutch Country has much to offer with its variety of trains and scenic rural countryside and is a popular and picturesque destination for railfans in a state rich in railroad history.
