DVD-In search of Narrow Gauge Mikados
Mikados_dvd.jpg
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel along the canyons and off the beaten track of the Durango and Silverton and the Cumbres and Toltec from end to end, shooting scenes no one has ever seen before (from off the train)?
Well an amazing photographer by the name of Tim Lab has accomplished this, and more! For five years he has traveled through the back country of Colorado with professional 16mm film equipment to photograph these two beautiful railroads!

Did you know that there is another narrow Mikado (2-8-2) running outside of Colorado? K-27 class engine number 464 runs frequently at the Huckleberry Railroad in Michigan. This beautifully restored engine appears as if it were built yesterday.

The "search" for those Mikados will uncover a bunch: 464, 473, 476, 478, 480, 481, 484, 487, 488, 489 and 497. All of these are beautifully photographed while performing their daily duties, many shot in locations you've never seen them in before! And you will get into a portion of the Durango roundhouse and tour the yards as well!

Tim Lab has been photographing trains for over ten years using the absolute best professional 16mm equipment available. His keen eye for composition, and his unbelievable patience to wait for just the right scene (sometimes for days!) makes his photography well worth looking for.
Like Hollywood professionals, Tim shoots with negative film (like the type which is used to make prints). Transferred from colorful 16mm film to digital video tape, and edited in our own broadcast quality studio
