Welcome to the second volume of “Midwest Trains of the 90’s”, a Classic Trains Railroad Series featuring exciting railroad action in America’s heartland during the 1990’s.
Most of the action in this program centers around the Lenox Tower area in Illinois just Northeast of St. Louis. This amazing location includes tracks coming from almost every direction. It’s not uncommon to see headlights from two or three trains at once waiting to traverse this area.
Other locations in Illinois include; Wood River, Mitchell, Valley Jct., Granite City, Poag Jct., WR Tower, Edelstein Hill, Chillicothe, Roxanna, Columbia Bottoms, Sauget, and Madison.
Missouri locations viewed are; Hannibal, Elsberry, Kirkwood, and Machens. Since this program takes place in the 1990’s when the BNSF and UP mergers took place, you’ll still see pre-merger color schemes such as those of the BN, ATSF, SP, RG, Cotton Belt, etc.
Power consists of mainline locomotives and switchers. Most of the diesels are the narrow nose standard cabs with a few new wide cabs thrown in for good measure.
