We continue our Long Island Rails series with volume 3. This features pre-pandemic action in the Spring of 2019. We open with a few diesel trains on the Montauk Branch. Next we feature a number of trains on the scenic and undulating Port Jefferson Branch. This branch is quite sylvan (wooded) in places with a number of trains seen passing a quiet wooded area on a gorgeous Spring day.
Next we feature heavy diesel action on the busy Montauk Branch on a beautiful Memorial Day getting all of the westbound trains from the Hamptons and Montauk plus local trains. Finally we see frantic electric and diesel action during the PM rush hour at Kew Gardens in the Borough of Queens.
You will see a number of the older Budd M3’s in service. These were later taken out of service when the pandemic began, and some of them have been put back into service today. Stay tuned for additional Long Island Railroad programs.
