We start with a few CSX hotshots in Dumont/Haworth NJ on the River Line, but the bulk of the action will be on the Amtrak Northeast Corridor in North Elizabeth and Elizabeth NJ., including the great railfan parking garage rooftop at Elizabeth where the famous Elizabeth S-curve is easily seen.
Amtrak dominates with the now retired AEM7 locomotives as well as the troublesome E60 and HHP8 locomotives which we also see. Amtrak at this time was gradually putting their Acela Express fleet into service. The Acela Express fleet is still in service today but will be phased out soon when new Acela II sets are put into service in 2023.
New Jersey Transit’s Arrow III MU’s built by GE in the 1960’s dominate NJT services, but push/pull trains were beginning to take over powered by the now retired ALP44 electric locomotives.
Many Arrow III MU’s have been retired but a decent number of them still run today. You will hear their Westinghouse AA2 horns which were used on many Interurban railroads. Also seen will be an F40PH2-CAT and a GP40PH-2B built by EMD. Both of those examples still run today.
A special visitor is the Spirit of Conrail GP38-2 as power on a Conrail Shared Assets local freight.
