This program covers two separate trips on the Keokuk Junction Railway, the first on Monday November 23, 2009 and the second on a snowy January 25, 2010. Beginning at Kolbe (near Mapleton, Illinois) and going as far west as Good Hope each day.
Peoria & Western FP9’s 1750 & 1752 with a P&W geep trailing went west with a good sized train on Nov. 23rd. They met the eastbound at Good Hope and swapped trains, then headed back.
On the morning of January 25th snow began to fall as #1752 and geep made up their train before departure at Kolbe. Snow showers, heavy at times, whitened the right of way. As the day grew longer, the winds picked up and the temperature dropped.
The train continued west from our last photo location at Good Hope. The drive home was not a pleasant one as visibility was limited in spots and the blowing snow also made the pavement slippery, but I do love capturing trains in the snow.
