On this program we go back in time to the Bloomington / Normal, ILL. area, starting in the 1990’s!
See trains 22, 21 “The Texas Eagle”, 303, 304, 305, 311 & 312 also known as “The Loop”. Trains 311 & 312 ran from Chicago to Springfield, ILL. and 312 used an Am-fleet cab car. Also featured is the X2000 & the ICE Train in Normal, ILL. in 1993!
Please note, the footage of the X2000 and ICE Train was shot using the VHS tape format. One shot of the ICE train flutters as the engines go by as the tape was bad in this section. The ICE train was pulled by the only two Siemens built engines that Amtrak owned at the time, #450 & #451. This program features a majority of Amtrak trains using the F-40PH loco’s!
We start out on the Santa Fe’s Chillicothe Sub. Here you will see Amtrak’s Southwest Chief #3 & #4 pulled with “800 class” AMD-103’s, and a few By “500 class” loco’s. Most power is in the phase 3, and some in phase 4 paint schemes. In the later part of the program we will be back in the Bloomington / Normal, ILL. area.
