This video covers a 16 mile stretch of track between Fairborn and Springfield OH. It was filmed over a four year period starting in 2015 and ending in 2018.
Many interesting trains are shown such as the Ringling Bros. Circus Train, the NS Office Car Special, the Lebanon and Mason OH. excursion train, and freight trains with NS Heritage Units in the power consists.
Heritage units captured were: Savannah & Atlanta, Southern Railway, Lehigh Valley, Nickel Plate Road, Interstate, Virginian, Pennsylvania, and Wabash. Other specialty painted locos were the 9-1-1 First Responder’s Commemorative scheme, the GO scheme, and Union Pacific’s Olympic Torch scheme. You will also see Union Pacific, CSX, KCS, Indiana & Ohio (ex-SP Tunnel Motor), and CitiRail.
You’ll see an NS Wabash Heritage unit leading a grain train down former Detroit, Toledo & Ironton track. View monster trains which combine two trains, one from Pittsburgh and one from Bellevue OH, into over mile long trains with mid-train or end of train distributive power units.
The segment of Dayton District covered is single track with a busy passing siding near Enon OH. Watch trains navigate the city of Springfield OH. without using their horns at the street crossings (all crossings in Springfield are declared “Quiet Zones”).
Included is both aerial and ground train action footage. Locations included: Fairborn, Enon, Snyderville and Springfield, OH.
