In this program we witness a dynamic Fallen Flag, Conrail, captured in 1995 at various locations on the Harrisburg Line and the Pittsburgh Line. We first spend an afternoon/evening at Wernersville before venturing out on the Pittsburgh Line at Bailey Run, Mexico Farm Road Crossing (otherwise known as Book’s Crossing named after farm owner there), Mattawanna, and Huntingdon.
You will see a great variety of shiny blue locomotives (with their Leslie RS3L horns that were so common on Conrail but not very common on today’s railroads) powering all kinds of trains.
We also include a brief visit to the East Broad Top Railroad with its narrow gauge steam operation and the Rockhill Trolley Museum both based in Orbisonia, Pennsylvania.
A special bonus at the end of this program features a 1995 summer Sunday evening of action at Oakdale, NY on the Long Island Railroad witnessing GP38-2’s hauling trains from the Hampton's as well as MP15, FA, and F-unit power cars on the local trains.
