Over six months in the making, this extraordinary documentary is devoted to the legendary 2200-mile track across the Great Northwest. The route was finished in 1893 by Great Northern Railway Founder James J. Hill.
Produced by Emmy-award winning producer and feature reporter John Yeager for ABC affiliate KXLY-TV of Spokane, Washington, this 48 minute documentary chronicles the life and times of people who now work on the train and those whose lives it touches. You will see grand views of Amtrak's Empire Builder as it wends it's way from Chicago to Seattle. Amtrak’s California Zephyr-Discovering the Great American West
Take the ride of a lifetime aboard Amtrak’s California Zephyr! A great deal of this documentary was shot by Emmy award winning photographer Jim Bolser exclusively for Green Frog. Jim’s photography gives you extraordinary scenes of head end cab action through the canyons of Western Colorado, and exciting aerial photography over the peaks of the high Sierras.
Additional outstanding photography was also supplied by world renowned photographer Steve Neff who spent more than a month following the Cal-Z from Chicago to the West coast capturing splendid action off train.

Tracks of the old Santa Fe-Santa Fe’s old Surf Line
In volume six, Santa Fe's old surf line, Rich Scheid takes us up the California golden coast and along the beaches of southern California as the surf pounds in behind the many trains. From San Diego's Union Station and up the surf line we travel through Old Town, Sorrento Valley, Del Mar, Solona Beach, Carlsbad, Oceanside, San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Anaheim, and take a tour of L.A. Union Station, we watch trains come in and out of the Station platforms and pass the tower.
We continue north of L.A. up the old Southern Pacific Line and up the coast to Santa Barbara, stopping at towns like Glendale, Camarillo, Ventura, Dulah, and Seacliff, watching trains round the bays at the foot of coastal mountains with plenty of great surf shots along the way. We stop at Carpinteria California, we take a good look at Santa Barbara, the depot, and its many trains, and we take a tour of town.
